Bird Watching
I am largely an armchair birdwatcher! I let the birds visit me rather than chasing them to recognise and identify them. I have been for bird watching a couple of times with some birding enthusiasts. What I noticed was the competitive nature of identifying birds and simply counting them. Stats were more important to them rather than enjoying the beauty of the birds. I never joined the bird watchers again. Read on... armchair_birdwatcher_apr_2018.pdf
Photography
Everybody is a photographer today! With access to very good and reasonably priced phones and cameras, most of us like to click anything that catches our eyes. In my younger days, in India, photography was a very expensive hobby. As a young doctor in (Manali, Kullu Valley), I had acquired a SLR 35 mm Agfa camera from an Australian friend, who had upgraded himself to a better one. I used to ask my overseas friends on way to India to bring one processing paid 35 shot color slides film. I was so careful with loading the film that I managed to get more than 37-38 frames from the same film. Processing was Available from Bombay and we used to eagerly wait to get back the transparencies to see what I had captured. It was a delight to recall beautiful scenes and people in the Himalayas . The snow scenes, most exotic people and dresses, local dances all were a delight in the evenings when we did not have anything other than a transistor radio for entertainment.
Some of those glimpse of seventies and current photographs are recorded here for those interested. (See photography page)
Reading
Not a great reader or a fan of fiction but I do like to read interesting books on people, places, philosophy, history. When I read I try to read everything in the book, from page one to the last, including the cover and the small print! Record of my books read since I started keeping record of my reading for those interested. (See Reading Page) books_read_full_list.pdf
Culinary Interests
Cooking is a pleasure and good hobby, but you need a lot of patience and time. (see culinary interests page)
Traveling Travelling is a humbling experience.
